Whether we&#8217;re debating the merits of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.russh.com\/best-matcha-sydney\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">our latest matcha latte spots<\/a> or deep-diving into a roll-call of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.russh.com\/alcohol-free-drinks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the best places to grab some non-alcoholic beverages<\/a>, we&#8217;re opinionated, fascinated and always hungry for more.<\/p>\n<p>But in case you were in need of some recommendations of places to eat or recipes to try, we thought it was about time we shared our gustatory opinions outside of the <em>RUSSH<\/em> HQ walls. And this month, the editors have been devouring some great recs. From Friendsmas feasts to Hainanese Chicken Ric \u2013 this is what the <em>RUSSH<\/em> editors have been eating this December.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Cassandra Dimitroff<\/h3>\n<p><em>Features and Production Editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.russh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/editor-eats-december-2025.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I paid my first visit to <a href=\"https:\/\/catalinarosebay.com.au\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Catalina in Rose Bay<\/span><\/a> this month, which was breathtaking. While every dish was a 10\/10, this coral trout crudo with green curry dressing was possibly one of the most delicious and beautiful dishes I\u2019ve ever been served in my life. I also paid a visit to Darlinghurst\u2019s new outpost of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/mapo_gelato\/?hl=en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mapo Gelato<\/span><\/a> to try their watermelon granita with mascarpone gelato \u2013 the ultimate summer dessert IMO.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Sophia Serafin<\/h3>\n<p><em>Implementation Manager<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.russh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Reformation-Favourite-Brand-Navi-Top-4.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I returned to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/vincenzos_sydney\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vin-cenzo<\/a>\u2019s this month, and took the opportunity to explore more of the menu. The tuna tartare \u2013 prepared in the style of classic beef tartare \u2013 was easily one of the best I&#8217;ve had. Scallops in garlic butter and fried eggplant followed, before a standout whole flounder served in a buttery sauce with vongole. On sunny days, I&#8217;ve been stopping by my local, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/barcopains\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bar Copains<\/a>, for a few glasses of wine\u2026 and inevitably, their potato scallops.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Jaime Carmody<\/h3>\n<p><em>Digital Marketing Specialist<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.russh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/December-Eats1.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>December has been all about eating outdoors and keeping things close to home. Long lunches that turn into early evenings and meals that feel relaxed and thoughtful. I\u2019ve been gravitating toward local favourites with frequent stops at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.caravin.com.au\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caravin<\/span><\/a> which feels perfectly suited for Summer. This month also popped into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dearsainteeloise.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dear Saint Eloise<\/span><\/a> for their beautiful list of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.russh.com\/best-natural-wine-brands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">natural wines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Mia Steiber<\/h3>\n<p><em>Digital Strategy Director &amp; Associate Publisher<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.russh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/mia-editor-eats-decmeber-2025.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I had a friend who recently turned 30 and we celebrated with the most gorgeous lunch at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ilbaretto.paddington\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Il Baretto in Paddington<\/a>. We had the private dining room upstairs, the food was absolutely delicious. I\u2019ve also made a number of post-Pilates trips out to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/rollers_bakehouse\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rollers Bakehouse<\/a> in December. The oat matcha and the ham and cheese croissant is my standard order \u2013 the perfect weekend treat! I\u2019ve also been hosting a lot at home, I had 10 friends around recently and I made my versions of Hainanese Chicken Rice. I spent a large chunk of my childhood in Singapore so it was very nostalgic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Kirsty Thatcher<\/h3>\n<p><em>Digital Editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.russh.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/xmas-lunch.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It would be remiss of me not to mention my Friendsmas Christmas lunch, which was easily the best meal I had this month (and I can\u2019t take any credit for it). We started with fresh oysters from the fish market with a homemade vinaigrette alongside lots of champagne. But the next course was probably my favourite: a recreation of Fish Shop\u2019s tuna tostada \u2013 the perfect starter on a hot day. From there, we had kingfish sashimi, steak done to perfection on the barbecue, plus salad and the most incredible herby potatoes. And to finish off, my favourite summertime dessert: sgroppino.
