Another year, another avalanche of Wrapped screenshots \u2014 and yes, the RUSSH<\/em> editors are adding to the pile on. We’ve compared notes, confronted our listening choices, and accepted our fates. From 2000s anthems, to certified bangers of the last 12 months, here are the songs and artists that dominated the RUSSH<\/em> teams’ Spotify Wrapped<\/a>.<\/p>\n

      Ok, I am shocked, as someone who predominantly listens to poetic, angry women and sad, romantic men, I seem to have really settled into a lot of Classical and Jazz? Have I lost my edge in my Spotify age of 75? I am a big fan of \u2018dinner music\u2019 and often this requires instrumental pieces so perhaps I\u2019ve just been really into hosting this year? Not surprised that Dave Berman still rules my heart, and having a look at the top songs the larger playlist feels slightly more reassuring, plenty of Dori Ghezzi, Pulp, and Lost Animal.<\/p>\n

          I\u2019m an Apple Replay girl and my list was very predictable. I tend to get very obsessed with a song and have it on replay for a week or more, and my list is very representative of this. I discovered Sleep Token in January and they pretty much dominated my playlists after that. I also have tickets to Deftones next year, so their appearance is no surprise either. You can see a little bit of Lana slipped in there, otherwise I am firmly a listener of sad girl music of the indie metal persuasion.<\/p>\n

              I\u2019m not shocked by the obscene amount of \u2018brat\u2019 energy here, and promise there\u2019s more variation when you dig deeper (hence the 70-year-old listening age<\/a>). But I\u2019m also totally on board with the \u2018Art-Pop\u2019 genre I have been boxed into. It proves to be the best kind of driving soundtrack \u2013 bop-along house beats and emotion-fuelled lyrics that you can scream-sing from the comfort of your car.<\/p>\n

                  I\u2019m not sure how I got a \u2018listening age\u2019 of 68, given my top artists and songs pretty closely resemble the taste of a teenage girl. I’ll happily accept whatever basic title comes with a mix of Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Dean, Gracie Abrams, and Audrey Hobert. No regrets.<\/p>\n

                              I have reached the ripe age of 71, according to Spotify. Music has been a prominent vice of mine this year, which is nothing new. I am a seasoned veteran in rinsing and repeating songs that are equal parts comforting and tear-provoking, and usually injected with nostalgia. Sade, my queen, I\u2019m looking at you. I was lucky enough to see my top artist, Navy Blue, perform last night, and yes, I will be doubling down to see him again on the Opera House steps tonight. Call me a true fan.<\/p>\n

                                  Bit of a confusing list for me this year. I can\u2019t figure out what I was feeling based on these results.                                               Smerz fan girl alert. I was struck with Scandi Art Pop fever this year. Apparently I\u2019m a top listener of Smerz globally? It\u2019s no surprise then that I\u2019m counting down the days until the Smerz and James K show at Sydney\u2019s City Recital Hall in March. Like so many others, I rinsed Blood Orange\u2019s Essex Honey and couldn\u2019t get enough of Dry Cleaning\u2019s recent single release \u2018Hit My Head All Day\u2019. I\u2019m hanging out for Dry Cleaning\u2019s third studio album Secret Love, set for release early next year.<\/p>\n
