We’ve known for some time that Bridgerton<\/em> would be back for a fifth (and sixth) season, but now we finally know what the next instalments could look like. Just weeks away from the premiere of season four<\/a>, and we’re turning our attention a little further into the future, with new details on exactly what \u2013 or who \u2013 the next storyline will focus on, and when it could hit our screens.<\/p>\n

Which character will Bridgerton<\/em> season five focus on?<\/h3>\n

Eloise Bridgerton stans, your time has (nearly) come. Most sources suggest that season five will adapt the events of the novel To Sir Phillip, With Love<\/em> \u2014 meaning the spotlight will likely be on Eloise Bridgerton and her romantic journey with Sir Phillip Crane.<\/p>\n

For those who haven’t read the book, it follows as Eloise begins a long-distance correspondence with Sir Phillip, a widowed father of two. Spoiler alert: their letters eventually lead to a proposal \u2014 and the novel climaxes when Eloise abandons social norms to travel and meet him in person.<\/p>\n

Who plays Sir Philip Crane?<\/h3>\n

Actually, we’ve already been introduced to Sir Philip. His character was featured in season one, and was played by Scottish actor, Chris Fulton. Of course, Bridgerton<\/em> has been known to occasionally re-cast characters<\/a>, so there’s no word yet on whether Fulton will be back for season five.<\/p>\n

When will filming begin?<\/h3>\n

Early reports suggest that cameras are slated to roll on Bridgerton<\/em> season five in March 2026, with production once again set to take place across locations in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

If the show follows its usual production timeline, there’ll be roughly eight months of filming, followed by a lengthy post-production period, which could point to a potential release sometime in spring or summer 2027. At this stage, however, Netflix hasn\u2019t locked in an official premiere date, so take this information with a grain of salt.<\/p>\n

What about season six?<\/h3>\n

If the series continues to track with the order of Julia Quinn\u2019s novels, season six should belong to Francesca Bridgerton. Her book, When He Was Wicked<\/em>, charts one of the more complex and emotionally layered romances in the series \u2014 and the show has already begun laying the groundwork.<\/p>\n

In season three, Francesca marries John Stirling, the Earl of Kilmartin, only for the finale to introduce his cousin, Michaela (a gender-flipped version of Michael from the novel). Fans of the books will know this sets the stage for a love story marked by longing, grief, and unexpected connection \u2014 suggesting Bridgerton<\/em>\u2019s sixth season may be one of its most emotionally charged chapters yet.<\/p>\n
