Footwear has been flirting with transparency for a while now. Each season, a new foot-baring style seems to take hold, from the Scandi-approved flip-flops (or thongs, as they’re known here in Australia), to a grown-up version of the jelly sandals of our youth. But the latest style to fall in fashion’s favour takes more of a textural route \u2013 introducing, the woven ballet flat.<\/p>\n

On the Spring Summer 2025 runway<\/a>s, weaving appeared everywhere, signalling a shift toward texture-driven footwear. Gabriela Hearst reworked the classic slingback without actually baring much skin via tightly woven leather, while Fendi took the idea further, styling lattice-like white heels with sheer dresses to create a clean dialogue between transparency and texture.<\/p>\n\n
