Somehow we’ve ended up here \u2013 at the tail-end of fashion month yet again \u2013 with only Paris Fashion Week left to go (you can read our highlights and show notes<\/a> for a lay of the land).<\/p>\n

If you’ve been keeping up with the shows like we have (we’ve got a definitive September fashion month guide here<\/a> if you need a roadmap), you’ll have seen plenty of discernible trends emerge, whether it was belted trenches or micro shorts or pops of royal blue. But one trend we’ve been noticing across London, New York and Paris is the subtle return of fringe. No, not the wispy, forehead-skimming tresses kind \u2013 but the type that trails from hemlines and scarves, bags and boots. In all its 70s, bohemian glory.<\/p>\n

Daniel Lee’s Burberry show at London Fashion Week<\/a> was one of the first to kick off the fringe effect this season \u2013 between leather fringe trimming outerwear in turquoises and lavenders, to knitted scarf ends fraying into tassled fringe (that look practically ripped from Lizzy McGuire’s naughties wardrobe).<\/p>\n

Dries Van Noten followed suit, opting to show beaded fringe micro shorts and bluebonnet-hued, fringed clutches at its Spring Summer 26 show in Milan. Smaller brands like Hodakova pushed the boundaries of what we call ‘fringe’ with constructed metal skirting make from fringe-like metal rods. (If anyone has more information on what exactly this was made from, we’d like to know…).<\/p>\n

Conner Ives, fresh from the viral fame of his “Protect the Dolls” tees<\/a> last season, leant into the sultry with a slinky mint, fringed slip dress, while Etro’s Spring Summer runway was permeated by suede and studded fringed bags and jackets in more traditionally boho and 70s-inspired styles.<\/span><\/p>\n
