It’s not a revival we saw coming, but in 2025, the poncho is back. Once the uniform of the early-2000s indie sleaze movement, the poncho has returned in a slightly more refined form. No longer sported exclusively by Sienna Miller at Glastonbury<\/a>, today\u2019s iterations are more sculpturally elegant, with gently draped silhouettes in buttery silks and cosy cashmeres.<\/p>\n

Several designers have made a strong case for the poncho’s return in recent seasons. Cast your mind back to Autumn Winter 24, and Chemena Kamali riffed on the poncho silhouette in various forms at Chloe \u2014 from cropped leather styles with a utilitarian edge, to white lace capes draped delicately over models’ shoulders. That same season, Moschino had us dreaming of being wrapped up in ponchos of the knitted variety, cut on an angle so as to gently graze the ground. Rabanne followed suit, imagining the poncho in heavier, outwear-ready fabrics, juxtaposed in a variety of vibrant prints. And at Bottega Veneta\u2019s Autumn\/Winter 2024 show, Matthieu Blazy offered up ponchos in soft, architectural knits, often oversized and gently draped at the neck.<\/p>\n\n
