As the days get longer and the ocean gets warmer, time spent on golden sands is a daily ritual for us at the\u00a0office. You may be wondering what essentials the RUSSH<\/em> editors are turning to this season? Think of our favourite swimwear<\/a> from go-to brands like Matteau and FAITHFULL \u2013 to BAINA\u2019s lush towels and the perfect beachside books. Something to carry it all? We’re taking bags from PALOROSA and Dragon Diffusion. And, of course, sunscreen<\/a> remains the season\u2019s most vital companion.<\/p>\n

The RUSSH<\/em> editors have rounded up everything you need for a sun-soaked season done right. Without further ado, we’ll see you out there.<\/p>\n

First and foremost \u2013\u00a0a good book. Right now I\u2019m trying to track down a copy of the <\/span>brand-new memoir from Cameron Crowe: <\/span>The Uncool<\/span><\/i><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you ask me, my <\/span>Palorosa bag<\/span><\/a> is the ultimate beach bag (it\u2019s made of woven plastic so it\u2019s great for all-terrain and wet swimmers). <\/span>Aesop\u2019s Protective Lip Balm SPF30<\/span><\/a> is a must. As is <\/span>Outside Beauty\u2019s SPF 50+ Lip to Cheek<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

For swimwear, I\u2019m living in my <\/span>LIDO swimsuit<\/span><\/a> \u2013\u00a0the softest and most comfortable suit I\u2019ve ever worn. And I\u2019m very into a throw-on dress \u2013\u00a0like this <\/span>Foemina Lindy Dress in White Poplin<\/span><\/a> for ultimate post-swim comfort.<\/span><\/p>\n

Having spent a few European summers learning the lore of the beach essential from my cousins in Corinthos, Greece, I think I have finally narrowed the list down. The art \u2013 at least as far as I\u2019ve realised \u2013 is a <\/span>really <\/span><\/i>good one of everything. An example, why are you hoarding your beach towels from a decade ago when you could look after one really beautiful piece? Let me continue.<\/span><\/p>\n

In my beach essentials, you will always find:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. A foolproof bikini or swimsuit that I will feel comfortable in <\/span>all <\/span><\/i>day, and can wear well under a cover up if I do happen to find myself taking the journey from beach to bar. One of my favourite swimwear brands of all time is FELLA, and I am already living in the brand\u2019s <\/span>Tony Top<\/span><\/a> and matching <\/span>Giuseppe Beaded Bottom<\/span><\/a> this summer.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. This leads me to cover ups \u2013 the <\/span>RUSSH <\/span><\/i>team have put together a list of our <\/span>favourite beach cover ups<\/span><\/a> for you to shop, but I currently have the <\/span>Ritual Sarong from Romy the Brand<\/span><\/a> on my Christmas wishlist. I like that it\u2019s long enough to tie as a dress if necessary, too.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. SPF is a non-negotiable every day of the week, and in my beach bag, I always keep a bottle of <\/span>Cetaphil Sun Ultra-Light Lotion SPF 50+<\/span><\/a> for the body, and <\/span>La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Fluid Facial Sunscreen SPF 50+<\/span><\/a> for the face.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Keeping on the theme of sun protection, I always take my Lack of Colour straw hat with me to every beach day. It\u2019s no longer in stock, but I found <\/span>this one from COS<\/span><\/a> which is very similar. Also, I love a big pair of sunglasses for the beach \u2013 almost veering into goggle territory. I was very lucky to recently receive a new pair from Luv Lou that I adore, but since they\u2019re not available just yet, they remind me of these <\/span>Loewe aviators<\/span><\/a> which I also love.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. I\u2019ll leave you to make your own decision about the <\/span>best beach towels<\/span><\/a>, but I love the <\/span>Umber towel from Kobn<\/span><\/a>. It\u2019s lightweight enough to carry but super absorbent and comfortable. It also fits perfectly underneath my trusty <\/span>beach umbrella from Basil Bangs<\/span><\/a> that I bought for Christmas a few years back.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. And lastly, a sturdy tote bag that doesn\u2019t compromise and is comfortable enough to carry around all day long. A hobo style is always my preference, like <\/span>this one from Khaite<\/span><\/a>. Inside you will always find a packet of Detol wipes \u2013 you\u2019ll thank me later.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \"\"I don\u2019t remember how I used to spend a summer\u2019s weekend before I moved to Sydney, and basically had the beach at my doorstep. First rule of thumb for a beach day, you need a great bag. <\/span>This Mimmi Terra basket<\/span><\/a> is water-resistant, durable, and very chic. I\u2019m also a big fan of the brand MUUN \u2013\u00a0in particular <\/span>this leather-trimmed straw tote <\/span><\/a>(which is currently on sale).<\/span><\/p>\n

    Inside my bag, I\u2019ll always have my <\/span>Kindle<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Airpods<\/span><\/a>, ready for some R&R. Sun protection is obviously a necessity \u2013 I love the <\/span>Ultra Violette Supreme Screen<\/span><\/a> for my face, as well as <\/span>the Hand and Body version<\/span><\/a> (which smells amazing). This hat by <\/span>Arms of Eve <\/span><\/a>is great, as are basically all of <\/span>Faithfull\u2019s button up shirts<\/span><\/a> – I love to throw them on over a bikini. Speaking of which, <\/span>this one by SIR<\/span><\/a> is currently sitting in my shopping cart.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Lastly, sustenance is a must for a beach day. <\/span>Corn chips<\/span><\/a> and a Coke Zero are my go-tos.<\/span><\/p>\n

    I\u2019m at the beach every moment I can – Bronte, McKenzie\u2019s Bay, Clovelly, Neilson Park – and I\u2019m usually running out the door with a muddled-collection of the below fail-safes:<\/span><\/p>\n

    To wear: A <\/span>Cleonie lilac one-piece<\/span><\/a>, and <\/span>a shirt like this<\/span><\/a> over the top. <\/span>Easy-wearing sunglasses<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>a cap<\/span><\/a> allow me to people-watch in peace. On the feet, <\/span>Haviana\u2019s<\/span><\/a> or <\/span>Suicoke\u2019s<\/span><\/a> are my go-to\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n

    For the skin: La Prairie Caviar Mist<\/span><\/a> to keep cool and <\/span>this SPF50+<\/span><\/a> for protection.<\/span><\/p>\n

    In my dream beach bag<\/a>:<\/b> a drink bottle<\/span><\/a> with ice-cold water, <\/span>a comfy towel<\/span><\/a> in-case I\u2019m sitting on concrete or rocks, and my <\/span>kindle for reading<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    To eat: If close by, I’ll stop at <\/span>Iggy\u2019s for a croissant<\/span><\/a>, or pick up a well-earned <\/span>burger from Out of The Blue<\/span><\/a> after a tiresome day by the beach.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    I have a well curated selection of beach essentials. I live by the ocean so I\u2019m at the beach a lot, and I feel like I have my beach bag down to a fine art. I do have a fair few bikinis but I usually gravitate towards a black one piece as it\u2019s so easy to layer. I love <\/span>the Bond-Eye Mara suit<\/span><\/a> but I\u2019ve also <\/span>been looking at this Gooseberry one<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Then, a pair of denim cut offs is essential. I love <\/span>the Agolde ones<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>the Rollas ones are excellent too<\/span><\/a>. Choose a basket bag you\u2019re happy to get sandy. I bought mine from my local Harris Farm but <\/span>this Revolve one<\/span><\/a> is almost the exact same (I have a sneaking suspicion it is in fact the exact same). It\u2019s sturdy and chic. <\/span><\/p>\n

    My Kindle Colorsoft<\/span><\/a> is rarely outside of arms reach these days \u2013 I\u2019m <\/span>currently reading Brimstone<\/span><\/a>. It\u2019s waterproof so I love taking it to the beach. <\/span>I always have the largest size of the<\/span> Ultra Violette body sunscreen<\/span><\/a> in my beach bag. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Finally, a few pieces to help cover up when the sun is too much. I love <\/span>the Baina beach towels, they\u2019re so soft<\/span><\/a>. A hat is essential, I\u2019m eyeing <\/span>this Casa Del Sol one<\/span><\/a> at the moment. Then, I\u2019m kind of obsessed with <\/span>the Pete Pareo oversized tees<\/span><\/a> \u2013 they really are the perfect post swim cover up.<\/span><\/p>\n

    I\u2019m a covert beach girl. I may be sheet-pale and only wear black, but equally, I like the feeling of sand between my toes and my hair always looks better after a saltwater rinse. In Sydney, a beach trip is ever imminent, so my bag (either my<\/span> Palorosa tote<\/span><\/a> or<\/span> Pan After Plaid bag<\/span><\/a>) is permanently packed and ready. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Sunscreen is my non-negotiable. Lately I\u2019ve been alternating between<\/span> Fuca<\/span><\/a> and<\/span> Mother SPF<\/span><\/a> for body, and<\/span> Emma Lewisham Sunceutical SPF 50<\/span><\/a> for my face. <\/span><\/p>\n

    My current beach reading rotation includes<\/span> Mark Ronson\u2019s memoir Night People<\/em><\/span><\/a>, a book of poems by<\/span> Alice Oswald titled Dart<\/em><\/span><\/a> and the latest<\/span> RUSSH<\/em> issue<\/span><\/a>, obviously. <\/span><\/p>\n

    My<\/span> Gentle Monster Kiko\u2019s<\/span><\/a> are a constant, but I\u2019ve recently introduced the<\/span> DMY Valentina<\/span><\/a> sunglasses into my eyewear mix too. If the wind picks up, I throw on my<\/span> Flore Flore Iman Longsleeve top<\/span><\/a>, which looks so great styled back with pieces from<\/span> Santangelo.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

    My ultimate beach essential is the<\/span> Acca Kappa hairbrush<\/span><\/a>. After a detangle, I keep my<\/span> locks tamed and tidy with the Mosquito Tapia hair comb.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

    My beach essentials are pretty curated this Summer, everything in it has earned its rightful place. I\u2019m a big fan of triangle bikinis and <\/span>this Matteau set<\/span><\/a> fits the brief perfectly. <\/span>Kye Intimates<\/span><\/a> is my favourite beach wear. I honestly live in these <\/span>pants<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>tanks<\/span><\/a>, both a perfect mix of comfort and chic. <\/span><\/p>\n

    My worn in <\/span>Dragon Diffusion bag<\/span><\/a> is the perfect size for hauling all the little things I convince myself are essential. Inside, you\u2019ll find Aesop <\/span>facial spray<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>hand cream<\/span><\/a>, plus a bottle of<\/span> San Pellegrino<\/span><\/a> (IFKYK). My <\/span>Gentle Monster sunglasses<\/span><\/a> live inside the pocket alongside my <\/span>Mecca sunscreen<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Summer Fridays lip balm<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

    Other essentials, My Saloon Store hairbrush, a comfy pair of <\/span>thongs,<\/span><\/a> Baina pool towel<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Airpods<\/span><\/a> and naturally a good book. Lately I\u2019ve really been enjoying poetry at the beach. At the moment I\u2019m reading <\/span>Female Embodiment<\/span><\/a><\/em> by Aliza Grace.<\/span><\/p>\n

    I swim pool laps regularly, but my favourite way of swimming is in the sea, wholly underwater. The complete immersion and sensory experience of being in the moment is relaxing and revitalising at the same time. This <\/span>Gentle Habits<\/span><\/a> snorkel and mask could take me to mermaid status.<\/span><\/p>\n

    While I\u2019m not a fan of sand per se, I love the beach, and the sound of the waves is probably my favourite sound. Being able to minimise sand getting into everything is a win for me and this <\/span>beach chair<\/span> <\/a>elevates the beach game too, as does this <\/span>Zimmermann fringed beach bag<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    My go to swimwear label is Matteau, and I\u2019m loving the new bamboo pattern on this <\/span>Matteau bikini top<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>briefs<\/span><\/a>, and this <\/span>dress<\/span><\/a> is perfect for covering up if the sun gets too much or you need to duck into the shops on the way home via Charcoal Charlies.<\/span><\/p>\n
