After days of refreshing our apps, Spotify Wrapped 2025 has officially landed. The exact release date is always shrouded in mystery because, although Spotify confirmed it stopped tracking listening data on November 20, they never confirmed the release date for Wrapped itself. But this year, it dropped in the evening hours between 3 and 4 December.

So, now that the annual music recap is here, it’s time to compare notes. Overall, Australians listened to everyone from the Wiggles to The Kid LAROI. As for the favourite songs, Birds of a Feather by Billie Eilish and That’s So True by Gracie Abrams were on the list.  Below, everything we learned from global Spotify Wrapped data for 2025.

The most-streamed artist for 2025

For the fourth year running, it was Bad Bunny.

Was Spotify Wrapped 2025 later than usual?

Short answer: No — Spotify Wrapped 2025 was not late. It arrived in our apps on the morning of December 4, 2025.

Based on previous years, Spotify Wrapped typically drops between 29 November and 4 December, with most releases happening in the final days of November or the first days of December.

Recent release dates include:

2025: 4 December2024: 4 December2023: 29 November2022: 30 November2021: 1 December

When did Spotify stop tracking data for wrapped?

A common question every year: “Will my recent listening count?” Although fans long believed Spotify stopped collecting data on 31 October 2025, the platform clarified last year that it extended its tracking deadline to 20 November.

If Spotify follows the same pattern in 2025, the cut-off was likely in mid-November, meaning most of your recent streams should be included. And if you didn’t already know, here’s how to hack your profile.

How to access your Spotify Wrapped

Accessing your Spotify Wrapped is fairly straightforward. Simply open the Spotify app on your mobile app. To be ready:

Update your Spotify app to the latest versionWhen Wrapped goes live, a banner will appear on your Home pageYou’ll also get an in-app notificationWrapped becomes available on desktop shortly after the mobile launch

Who topped Spotify Wrapped in 2024?

If you need a quick refresher before this year’s results land, Taylor Swift dominated Spotify Wrapped 2024 as the most-streamed artist worldwide, with The Weeknd and Bad Bunny close behind. On the singles front, Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” claimed the title of most-streamed song of the year — a track that is still stuck in our heads a year later.

Tap your fellow music obsessives to let them know: Spotify Wrapped 2025 is expected to drop in early December, likely between December 3 and 4 based on previous years. In 2024, it arrived on 4 December, which was later than some expected given the November release in the years before. It’s leaving some users pondering whether it will be late in 2025?

With Spotify confirming they stopped tracking listening data on November 20, Wrapped season has officially begun — and yes, it’s nearly time to find out exactly how many hours you devoted to Caroline Polachek, white noise, or whatever unexpected artist climbed into your top five.

Below, we break down when Spotify Wrapped 2025 is coming out, how to access it, and what you’ll need to do to share your listening stats.

Is Spotify Wrapped 2025 arriving on 3 December 2025?

Historically, Spotify Wrapped been released anywhere from 29 November until 6 December. Many people are speculating that the 2025 Wrapped will likely land on the 3rd or 5th of December based on release patterns of the past four years. It is also highly likely it will drop on a Wednesday, based on past years, so there’s a high chance it could be landing today. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled.

When has Spotify Wrapped dropped in previous years?

In 2024, Spotify Wrapped dropped on Wednesday, 4 December, 2024In 2023, it was released on Wednesday, 29 NovemberIn 2022, it was Wednesday, 30 NovemberIn 2021 it was released on Wednesday, 1 December.

Spotify has not previously announced the date before it happens, but we’ll likely get some teasers indicating that it’s on its way in the coming weeks.

How to access your Spotify Wrapped

How to locate your Spotify Wrapped in-app.A banner should appear on your in-app home screen to let you know when your yearly Wrapped is available to view and share.

You can only check out your Spotify Wrapped in the Spotify mobile app. It’s super easy to find:

Open the app, and you’ll see a big Wrapped banner right on your home screen.Tap that, and it’ll take you to your own Wrapped story.

Spotify also sends notifications to people who are eligible, so you won’t miss out when it drops.

Do I need to have a Spotify Premium account?

No – you can see your Wrapped even if you don’t have a Premium account.

When does Spotify Wrapped stop tracking your listening activity?

Last year, plenty of speculation prompted Spotify to weigh in on exactly when they stop collecting data. “We extended our Clips deadline for 2024 Wrapped to November 20,” Spotify revealed.

Following this timeline, Spotify has stopped tracking our listening activity, and be prepping our Spotify Wrapped for 2025.

How do I share it?

If you love showing off your music stats, Spotify Wrapped makes it super easy. It automatically creates slick, personalised graphics that are perfect for sharing on Instagram, TikTok, or wherever you post.

You’ll get fun highlights like your “Top 5 Artists”, “Top 5 Songs”, and even a “Listening Personality” – a playful little snapshot of what your music taste says about you.

What is Spotify Wrapped?

It’s Spotify’s yearly recap that gives you a personalised look at your music listening habits over the past year. It highlights your top songs, artists, genres, and even your unique “listening personality”, all wrapped up in an interactive story inside the Spotify app.

It’s both fun and a little nostalgic – like scrolling through a musical time capsule of your year. Plus, Spotify makes it easy to share your Wrapped results with sleek, ready-to-post graphics for Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms.

What about Apple Replay?

Apple Music has its own version of Spotify Wrapped called Apple Music Replay. It gives you a yearly summary of your most-played songs, artists, and albums – plus detailed stats on your total listening time.

You can access Replay anytime through the Apple Music app or on the web. It’s typically released in late November or early December. Last year, it was released on Tuesday 3 December.

You can now slide into DMs on Spotify, too https://www.russh.com/spotify-new-messages-function-explained/ Thu, 28 Aug 2025 01:00:53 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=261323 Everything you need to know about the new Spotify 'Messages' function, explained.

The post You can now slide into DMs on Spotify, too appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
Just in case there weren’t enough para-social platforms where you could connect with your friends or slide into your crushes DMs, Spotify has announced it’s rolling out ‘Messages’ across the music platform – a new way to share your impeccable music taste.

The new feature is already going live, so here’s how it works…

When is the feature being rolled out?

According to the Spotify Newsroom, beginning this week, the ‘Messages’ feature will start rolling out to Free and Premium users aged 16 years and older in select markets on mobile devices.

How do I use it?

To start use the ‘Messages’ feature:

When listening to a song, podcast, or audiobook in the Now Playing View, tap the share icon.Select a friend, or group of friends, and hit send.Once you accept a message request, you’ll be able to react with emojis, send texts, and seamlessly share Spotify content back and forth.Access Messages by going to your profile photo in the top left corner.

You can find more information and a tutorial video on the Spotify Newsroom.

How to share content in Messages, image via Spotify.

Why has it been added?

The new tool feels like a natural upgrade from Spotify’s old sharing methods, which often meant copying links or relying on third-party apps. Now, if you discover a track you love, you can instantly send it to a friend right in Spotify.

It’s all part of Spotify’s bigger strategy to become a social hub for music. For years, people have treated music as a shared experience, whether that’s trading mixtapes, burning CDs, or posting playlists online. Spotify’s new messaging system brings that same spirit into the app itself. By letting people chat, react, and discover together, the company hopes to keep users more engaged and, ultimately, more loyal to the platform.

Who can I DM?

You can share Spotify content and start a message in-app with people you’ve interacted with before through Spotify.

Even better, the feature supports group chats, so music lovers can swap recommendations, react in real time, and spark conversations around their favourite sounds.

Another notable detail: messages aren’t limited to quick one-off shares. The addition of reactions and group threads means users can build ongoing conversations around music, almost like a mini community inside Spotify.

It’s that time of year again: the neon gradients, personalised pie charts, and a collective descent into musical self-reflection. Spotify Wrapped 2024 has landed, and the internet is thriving on its annual dose of chaos, cringe, and creativity. Whether you’re proudly displaying Charli XCX your #1 artist or nervously explaining why you spent 3,000 minutes listening to the Challengers soundtrack, Wrapped has become a cultural ritual – equal parts confession and celebration – and we simply must check out the best Spotify Wrapped internet reactions.

This year, Spotify leaned into hyper-personalisation, with new features like your “2024 music evolution” showing users how their tastes changed month-to-month this year. Users revelled in seeing their music taste quantified: Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake and Billie Eilish taking out the top spots for most-streamed artists this year. And as a result, memes are already exploding on X, Instagram and TikTok, as niche genres like “Cottagecore Dreamwave” and “Goblincore Folk” resurfaced, leaving everyone questioning if they’re truly that unique.

Across TikTok, reactions are ranging from self-roasting over embarrassing guilty pleasures, to emotional testimonials about songs that carried them through 2024. Yet, Wrapped wasn’t without its critiques. Some users lamented the poor graphics and lack of data present in this year’s round-up. Others called for rival platforms, like Apple Music Replay, to step up their game.

Below, we have rounded up some of our favourite internet Spotify Wrapped internet reactions so far, from across X, Threads, Instagram, TikTok and more…

The post The internet’s best reactions to Spotify Wrapped 2023 appeared first on RUSSH.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – yes, you guessed it, Spotify Wrapped Day. It’s practically a global holiday at this point, not to mention a time when your social media feeds are likely inundated by a million screenshots of your friends’ top artists, most listened to songs and craziest genre-benders from over the last 12 months. We can’t be certain about just how the algorithm checks and logs all of our listening habits, but we can be certain that it does seem to have an eerie accuracy for most. At the very least, it’s damn entertaining. If you haven’t already, you can do yours online here (or you can follow the prompts in-app).

Spent 3,000 minutes listening to Troye Sivan’s Rush on repeat? In the top 0.001% of fans who listen to boygenius? Everyone right now just wants to wear their ‘Top Listener’ badge with pride online, or showcase their weirdest and most impressive sonic feats. But in between all of these generic share-to-feed-style posts thanking artists for their service during our emotional breakdowns – or come ups – this year, it’s also a time of the year when the internet – particularly, X (RIP Twitter) – is ignited in a frenzy of memes and Tweets (can we still call them that?) about how embarrassing, inaccurate or irrelevant the entire ‘Spotify Wrapped’ thing is.

For the second year running, there are even a few artist thank you videos nestled into your results, which is a nice easter egg for listeners of artists like boygenius or Charli XCX. Whether you like it or not, Spotify Wrapped will be consuming us from all angles today. You best buckle in.

And so, in an effort to bring together some of our favourite internet reactions, we’ve collated some of our favourite posts from the last 24 hours online about this year’s Spotify Wrapped. Enjoy them, below.

Rise and shine little wildebeests. Do we have a treat for you? No, it’s not news that the weather has finally tipped past 41 degrees and you can pack it in and go home. Although, some of you are already working from your dining table, so I don’t think this primary school logic holds the same possibilities it once did. Rather, we’ve got something that will make your week marginally better; silence the voice that’s wondering if it’s physically possible to drown yourself in your third coffee of the day. If you haven’t heard, Sofia Coppola recently downloaded Instagram and the upsides of her choice are beginning to surface already.

Ever wanted to know what music Coppola plays on her sets? It’s a fair question. Anyone that’s sat their way through her dreamlike depictions of girlhood will understand that the soundtrack is a large part of the point. There would be no Marie Antoinette without its selection of New Wave, nor would we hold so tightly to The Virgin Suicides if Air weren’t the architects of its score. So you’d be pleased to know that, along with a handful of tidbits about her latest project Priscilla, Sofia Coppola has taken to Instagram to share her on-set playlist. Naturally, it’s perfect.

Entitled ‘Morning on set’, the playlist eases us into the day with the buttery sound of Curtis Mayfield’s track So In Love. What follows is a very cool blend of dream pop, soul and rock. Solange has a moment, as does Bryan Ferry. Meanwhile, Shuggie Otis, The Pretenders, Cocteau Twins and New Order are included for good measure.

Curated to mark the beginning of production for Priscilla, a new film starring Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny that uses Priscilla Presley’s memoir Elvis and Me as its source material, at the time of writing, the playlist has over 6,240 likes. Which is quite the following considering it was made just two days ago, holding 18 songs with a run time of 1 hour and 15 minutes.

This is Sofia Coppola we’re talking about though. Do we expect anything less? Between the director, The Row and RUSSH‘s very own Spotify playlists, your ears are booked and busy.

The #deletespotify movement is gaining stream https://www.russh.com/spotify-covid-misinformation-joe-rogan-neil-young/ Mon, 31 Jan 2022 03:00:01 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=151889 Joni Mitchell joins Neil Young in the removal of their music from the platform, Harry and Megan speak out.

The post The #deletespotify movement is gaining stream appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
If you’ve been on the internet this week, you’ll know that the Spotify Exit of 2022 is underway, following Neil Young‘s open letter addressed to his management and record label, demanding the removal of his music from Spotify. His reason was as justifiable as a reason can be when it means losing a musical legend’s discography on the worlds largest music streamer: He no longer wanted to share a platform with podcaster and routine COVID-19 misinformation spreader, Joe Rogan.

In the letter, Young writes that he objects to Rogan’s continued spread of untrue and debunked information about COVID vaccines, which Spotify is, by platforming his podcast, helping to spread. The misinformation on the podcast is rife, alongside some completely unhinged climate change theories that Jordan Peterson was peddling on the Joe Rogan Experience last week, that Rogan make little effort to challenge.

“I want you to let Spotify know immediately TODAY that I want all my music off their platform,” the musician wrote in the now-deleted statement. “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”

“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” he wrote. “Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule.”

Following his demands, on January 26th, Spotify sided with Rogan and removed Young’s music, per his ultimatum. The decision came after Spotify struck a $100 million exclusive deal with Rogan in late 2020, which appears to be more valuable to the streaming giant.

Joni Mitchell joins Young

Just a few days ago, Joni Mitchell joined to cohort of people in support of Young, sharing a short statement via her website that she would also be removing her music off of Spotify over the same concerns. While never specifically naming Rogan as the catalyst,  she attached a link to the open letter signed by hundreds of scientists and medical professionals calling for Spotify to “immediately establish a clear and public policy to moderate misinformation on its platform.”

“I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify,” Mitchell wrote on Friday, January 28. “Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.”

Megan and Harry speak up

On Sunday, January 30, Megan Markle and Prince Harry are adding their two-cents to the evolving situation. In an official statement released from their Archewell Foundation (which signed and exclusive podcast deal with Spotify in December 2020), they addressed the growing concern about the rampant COVID misinformation on Spotify.

“Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all-too-real consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform,” read the statement. “We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public-health crisis.” The statement concluded, noting that Archewell would not be pledging to remove content from the streamer, and will continue to do business with Spotify in the hope that they would “meet the moment.”

How has Spotify been impacted?

So far, it is unclear if any of these calls to action will impact Spotify in a meaningful way, despite hashtags like #deletespotify, #cancelspotify, and #byebyespotify currently trending.

In its statement on Young’s ultimatum, Spotify attempted to note that it has “detailed content policies” in place that attempt to walk the line between freedom for creators and listener safety. “We’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic,” the service pointed out.

Regardless of their statement, Spotify has been flooded with customer service complaints after its confirmed support of the controversial podcaster, so much so, that it reportedly had to shut down its live customer support function.

I’m deleting @Spotify. You should too. Vaccine disinformation is not cool. #DeleteSpotify #Spotifydeleted https://t.co/14HeH5bCTo

We’ll keep this page updated as the story unfolds, but in the meantime, where will you be listening to Neil and Joni? Apple Music isn’t looking so bad after all.

If @spotify doesn’t immediately remove @joerogan, I will release new music onto the platform. #youwerebeautiful

We’ve got to hand it to Mary-Kate and Ashley, the design duo know their style. It seems the The Row is really hitting its stride with its monthly Spotify playlist; and once again, we’ve been blessed with a whole new set of songs to get us by this summer.

In true Olsen style, they’ve compiled a thirty track mix of fresh post modern beats. A mix of cool urban hits that pays direct homage the utopian hustle of life on the streets of fashion’s coolest city. The mix starts off with a disco track Native New Yorker by Odyssey. A direct link to The Row’s home base, and the twins home New York City. What follows is a symphony of culturally diverse tracks, including French Jazz, a psych rock beat from Nigerian band Ofege as well as classic soul from Irma Thomas who also happens to adorn the cover art of the playlist.

It wouldn’t be a Row playlist without some breezy 90’s electronica, with Air and Massive Attack also being featured. The duo’s foray into music has been a hit since April 2020, when they released their first playlist. Many other fashion houses have since been following suit, finding more ways to connect with their following. It seems music has proven the best modus operandi in doing so. The essence of the catwalk is imbued throughout and we feel as if we’ve got a front row seat.

The Row recently took to Instagram to promote their latest instalment of hits, pointing out a number of their favourite songs. Emitt Rhodes, China Crisis and Cornelius all making the cut. It seems somehow the twins get cooler and more elusive the more they let us into their world. Consider this your front row ticket to their sonic show. Commence your new year with pure style below.
