What’s been announced?

In an Instagram post earlier today, Rocky shared the news on social media, announcing that Don’t Be Dumb is “finally here” and thanking Burton for helping him make the movie.

So is it a film or an album?

At this point, it’s confirmed to be Rocky’s fourth studio album. But given the nature of the cinematic talent he’s collaborating with for it – Elfman and Burton – we think there’s likely to be some pretty epic visuals attached. But, we wait for confirmation on that front.

When will it be released?

While there’s still no confirmed release date, the message makes it clear that the album rollout is officially underway: “Coming Soon”.

Fans have been busy speculating, especially after Rocky was spotted wearing a hoodie with the numbers “01162026,” hinting at a possible 16 January 2026 release.

At the same time, Rocky has continued to say the album is expected to drop sometime in 2025 – so for now, the exact timing remains a mystery.

Why was it delayed?

Originally set to drop in August 2024, Don’t Be Dumb has gone through several delays. Tracks that have already been announced include Highjack, Tailor Swif, Ruby Rosary, and Pray4DaGang.

Rocky has been open about why the album keeps getting pushed back, saying he doesn’t want to rush the process. In recent interviews, he’s described the project as a reflection of personal growth – less focused on excess, but still rooted in fashion, creativity, and self-expression.

Outside of music, Rocky has hardly slowed down. He’s stayed busy with acting roles, creative director gigs with Ray-Ban and an ambassadorship with CHANEL, and family life alongside Rihanna and their children.

Who is involved?

Rocky recently revealed the album artwork was by none other than legendary filmmaker Tim Burton, bringing together hip-hop and Burton’s signature gothic, cinematic style.

Burton’s involvement isn’t just surface-level, either. The director behind cult classics like Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Beetlejuice reportedly created the official album artwork and may be part of a larger visual world tied to the project.

Rocky has previously shared that he played the album for Burton, who was blown away by what he heard and surprised by how wide-ranging Rocky’s sound had become.

Adding even more cinematic energy to the album is Danny Elfman, Burton’s longtime collaborator. Elfman – known for scoring films like Beetlejuice and Men in Black – contributed to multiple tracks on Don’t Be Dumb, reportedly handling portions of the album’s scoring.

One of the songs he worked on was produced by The Alchemist, further emphasising just how eclectic and ambitious the project is shaping up to be.

The post A$AP Rocky is shaping the future of fashion, from red carpets to campaigns appeared first on RUSSH.

The film is set to be an English-language remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1963 classic High and Low, which was itself based on Ed McBain’s novel King’s Ransom. In this new adaptation, Rocky portrays a character intriguingly named Yung Felon,  an aspiring rapper who will stop at nothing to be noticed by Washington’s music mogul. But don’t let us explain it to you. There’s now an official trailer, which you can watch in full below.

We’ve also been treated to leaked paparazzi shots from the set which capture him in character—handcuffed, flanked by police—hinting at a role that’s far from incidental.

Rocky has also spoken more about exactly what to expect, telling Variety he relied on method acting to get into character. “When you’re not on the set, or when you clock out, you’re still embodying that character. Around the beginning of shooting, my family was still in California, so I got to really be this guy and go home [as him]. When my family finally came to New York in late May, we were almost wrapped, and I had to be in daddy mode. I had to shift back and forth.”

Who else is in the cast?

Alongside Rocky, the ensemble cast boasts several notable names. Denzel Washington, a frequent collaborator with Lee, will be taking up the leading role in Highest 2 Lowest, marking Lee and Washington’s fifth project together.

Joining them is Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction, Westworld) and, surprisingly, rising rap sensation Ice Spice will be making her acting debut in the film.

What is the plot?

Highest 2 Lowest is set to delve into the moral quandaries of a wealthy executive who faces extortion when his chauffeur’s son is kidnapped by mistake and held for ransom. The narrative explores themes of class disparity and ethical dilemmas, promising a gripping and thought-provoking experience.

When is it being released?

The film is set to debut outside of the official competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It will be released by A24 in select theatres on August 22, before being released for streaming on Apple TV+ two weeks later.

What else has A$AP Rocky acted in?

A$AP Rocky’s film career continues to evolve, blending his music-world charisma with on-screen magnetism. He made his acting debut in Dope (2015), a Sundance favourite that spotlighted his natural ease in front of the camera. This was followed by a role in Monster (2018), where he delved into the complexities of the legal system, and Stockholm Syndrome (2021), a self-reflective documentary capturing his career’s pivotal moments.

The director of There’s Something in the Water is in good company too. Joining Page as the face of Gucci Guilty fragrances is Ozark and Inventing Anna alumnus Julia Garner, along with A$AP Rocky, who we are now referring to exclusively as the father of Rihanna’s children (what an honour).

In the campaign, which is expected to launch on March 1, British photographer Glen Luchford captures Page, Rocky and Garner in what has been prefaced by Gucci as an “ode to self-acceptance, friendship and love in all its forms”. Expect a narrative story that offers “tenderness, imagination, and curiosity” in equal parts.

Birthed in 2010, Gucci Guilty has become an enduring legacy of the House and the fragrance has been reinvented myriad times over the last decade. Although few details are known about what we can expect from the upcoming campaign, we imagine with a new creative director in place, it’s high time that Gucci Guilty fragrances evolved to reflect Sabato De Sarno’s vision for the House.

In snowy images captured in Harlem, NYC by Miles Diggs, the couple posed in paparazzi meets pregnancy photos with Rihanna’s new bump poking out of a quilted archive Chanel coat with a Christian Lacroix cross necklace draped over her stomach in very Madonna-esque fashion. Simply, how could we not? At RUSSH we are not reporters of celebrity pregnancies or engagements (we didn’t even cover patron saint Chlöe Sevigny’s highly chic baby until he arrived), but as the first good news of the year (our condolences to Drake) – and a new contender for coolest baby ever – we have been left with no choice.

Friends since 2012 and dating since last year (who could forget their last-to-arrive Met Gala looks that had us in a chokehold), it seems the couple are both quite aware of how cool their foetus already is, with A$AP sharing with GQ in an interview that Rihanna is the love of his life, adding, “I think I’d be an incredible, remarkably overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very.” And considering his baby mama is none other than the woman who is singlehandedly going to make pregnancy trending, we’d be inclined to agree.

Taking to Instagram – the only suitable platform for major public service announcements these days – A$AP Rocky shared a series of four photos, showing what looks to be a reworked adidas Forum sneaker with Prada touches. Sporting the upcoming and sure-to-be highly-covetable sneakers, Rocky paired his footwear of choice with a sleek, black Prada suit; later in the post giving us a closer and more intimate look at his sneakers.

The only appropriate caption for a collaboration of such an elite nature? PRA-DI-DAS, of course.

Although neither party has officially confirmed details of, or around the collaboration; it looks like the all-white colourway sneaker has been enhanced with the signature Prada-branded tongues and pouches that have become synonymous with the luxury house. Perfect, of course, for when you need some extra room to carry your essentials.

Although footwear isn’t the only space keeping A$AP Rocky busy right now. Earlier this year, it was announced that the artist was working on a new documentary; recounting the infamous trip to Sweden that got him arrested.

The post A$AP Rocky, Prada and adidas are dropping the luxury sneaker of our dreams – here’s your first look appeared first on RUSSH.

Premiering at Tribeca Film Festival in a few short days on June 13, the documentary has been directed by The Architects and will follow the rapper‘s “meteoric rise… before taking a detour into darkness” the film description states.

For those unfamiliar with the sequence of events, Rocky was taken into Swedish custody alongside two of his team members for assault after ending up in a fight with two men, who were alleged to have followed them and incited the violence.

As he was held in jail, Rocky released video footage to support his plight for freedom and to prove his violent actions were in self-defense. The footage sparked a near-global campaign by the hashtag #Free Rocky, where the likes of  Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber advocated for the rapper’s release.

“The film reveals Rocky’s experience with the inequities of the Swedish judicial system and the dangers of stardom and scapegoating through a series of twists and turns, ultimately paralleling the need for prison reform in our own backyard.” Tribeca Film Festival said in the description.

Stockholm Syndrome is said to combine archival film, interviews conducted recently, animation – strangely, and concert footage, alongside appearances from Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell, Tyler, the Creator, Michèle Lamy, and A$AP Ferg.

Aside from that, we’re not certain on what else to expect from Stockholm Syndrome, except that the documentary will premiere at Tribeca Film Festival, and will be released as part of its Juneteenth programming. For those in the US, you can buy tickets to stream it in America from July 14 onwards, here.

It’s no surprise then, that the creative duo have left no stone unturned in their latest collection, delivering on the full throttle, but intrinsically considered collaboration we all anticipated.

Amina Muaddi and A$AP Rocky’s collection comprises of four unique styles, all featuring Muaddi’s signature blunted heel style that catapulted her into the fashion zeitgeist. Speaking in an interview, Muaddi explained that the designs are a marriage of the pair’s personal tastes, sharing that, “Even if we come from such different parts of the world and we have different backgrounds, we have very similar aesthetics.”

The collection treats us to three pump-inspired designs; including a crystal butterfly-adorned perspex mule, a classic, sleek iteration with the same iconography, and a white, open-toed mule tied together with a chunky, crystal embellished chain with the name of Rocky’s creative company, AWGE, hanging. For those who are daring, the range also includes two rendition of Muaddi’s iconic gladiator-inspired, strappy thigh-high sandal. Perfect for a causal run to the grocery store, of course.

The collection will be released through a selection of global retailers like Net-a-Porter, Browns, Just One Eye, and On Pedder; with a launch date of December 11 rumoured, but not yet confirmed.

Creative Director Alessandro Michelle’s eclectic vision cast together these three weird and wonderful musicians, envisioning a meeting of eccentric creatives in a Californian modernist mansion, located in Los Angeles where the campaign was shot earlier in February (pre-coronavirus lockdowns and the world melting into chaos).

Photographer and director Harmony Korine known for Spring Breakers and The Beach Bum conjures images of a quintessential rock star lifestyle. A melting pot of unexpected friends and good times. The housemates goof about with their pets Biggy Pop and a striking blue hyacinth macaw. From jiving and dancing in the bathroom, to relaxing on the lounge in the afternoon sun and even enjoying a huge pot of spaghetti on the kitchen table in the evening. Because pasta really truly does bring everyone together right?

“…There is always this image of eccentricity, because they are in fact eccentric themselves. A certain type of fun is also portrayed and the idea of how one’s obsession with appearances can create a kind of common ground that can become a sort of brotherhood. It was beautiful to see these three men together, seemingly different but very similar”, explains Creative Director Alessandro Michelle.

From Iggy Pop’s leopard print suit and signature Gucci oversized sunglasses, A$AP Rocky’s sweet pink sweater and incredible mischievous grin, to Tyler, The Creator’s red corduroy suit and contrasting turquoise turtle neck… There’re too many noteworthy delights to mention. Each talent has a unique and distinctive style, complete with loafers, rings and Gucci purses of course.

Alessandro Michelle continues, “…I like to tell the story of elegance in completely arbitrary and unexpected ways. Perhaps elegance is something in the air that sometimes you are not even ready for. Male elegance can be unpredictable and strange.”
