The post The summer solstice is coming – here’s what it means for you appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
At this point in the year, the summer heat is well and truly upon us. Now, as the summer solstice approaches – on Monday 22 December 2025 – we wanted to break down what it means.

Despite being an annual event, many of us only loosely understand what the phenomenon is. Yes, it’s the longest day of the year, but why? Is it the same as midsummer? We’re answering these questions and more on the 2025 summer solstice, below.

What is the summer solstice?

The summer solstice is a cosmic milestone, marking the Earth’s tilt at its most dramatic angle towards the Sun — the very force that defines our seasons.

For those of us in Australia, this moment occurs when the Sun’s path through the sky hits its peak, gifting us with the most daylight hours of any day in the whole year. It’s not just the longest day, but also the brightest, a celebration of light in its fullest form. Typically, the summer solstice lands on December 22, though it can shift between December 21–23. In 2024 for example, it was on 21 December. This year, it will officially arrive at Monday 22 December 2024 at exactly 2:03am AEDT.

Where you live determines how much daylight you’ll soak in. In Hobart, the Sun will rise at 5:28am and set at 8:49 pm, making for a whopping 15 hours and 21 minutes of sunlight. In Sydney, the day is a little shorter but no less luminous, with the Sun rising at 5:41am and setting at 8:06pm — 14 hours and 23 minutes of daylight bliss. While it may feel like time has expanded, rest assured there are still only 24 hours in the day — it’s just that more of them are drenched in sunlight.

Does this make it the warmest day in the year?

Unlike the winter solstice, which isn’t the coldest day of the year, the summer solstice plays by different rules. Australia’s peak heat doesn’t arrive on cue.

In the tropical north, the hottest days usually hit in October or November, before the wet season rolls in. Further south, the heat lingers, building momentum into December and peaking in January. For southern Australia, it’s a slow burn — the hottest days and nights typically land weeks after the solstice, as summer’s grip tightens. It’s nature’s way of keeping us guessing, with the north heating up early and the south saving its sizzle for later.

How to make the most of the 2025 summer solstice

The summer solstice is more than just the longest day of the year — it’s a cosmic call to realign, re-centre, and release.

Since ancient times, it’s been a moment of ritual and reverence, marking what was once considered the height of summer. Pop culture gave it a sinister twist with A24’s Midsommar (but maybe skip the maypole dance). Meanwhile, crowds still flock to Stonehenge, where modern-day druids gather to honour the power of the Sun.

With light at its peak, the solstice invites us to celebrate brightness before the slow descent into darkness. Fire is a symbolic force here — a tool for cleansing, purifying, and letting go of what no longer serves us. Around the world, flames are lit in ceremonies to burn away the past, and you can do the same at home. Light a candle, reflect on the year that’s been, and meditate on what’s next. With New Year’s Eve on the horizon, it’s the perfect moment to hit reset and step boldly into the light of new beginnings.

Is the summer solstice the same as midsummer?

Is it the start of summer or midsummer? The summer solstice manages to be both — and neither. While many mark it as the official first day of astronomical summer, others see it as midsummer, a nod to ancient celebrations of light at its peak. The confusion isn’t new. Traditionally, the solstice marks the year’s longest day, while midsummer refers to the festivals and rituals that bloom around it. Rooted in both pagan and Christian customs, these celebrations honour the power of the Sun and the turning of the seasons. Call it what you like — either way, it’s a moment to revel in the magic of the light.

How does this change sunrise and sunset times?

Thanks to the Earth’s tilted axis, time doesn’t tick as neatly as you might think. This wobble creates a gap between solar time and mean time — sometimes by several minutes, according to Geoscience Australia. Around the summer solstice, this cosmic quirk makes the Sun’s movement appear slower than usual. The result? The earliest sunrise actually happens before the solstice, throwing our expectations off track. It’s a subtle reminder that, even in nature, time is never quite as simple as it seems.

What’s the difference between the solstice and equinox?

Solstice or equinox? The clue’s in the name. While a solstice marks the Earth’s tilt at its most extreme, pointing us toward or away from the Sun, an equinox is a moment of balance — when day and night stand at near-equal length. Equinoxes happen twice a year, in autumn and spring, offering a brief cosmic equilibrium. If you’re in Australia, the next equinox will arrive on March 21, 2024. So, while solstices are all about extremes, equinoxes remind us that sometimes, balance is everything.

Now that we’ve had the shortest day of the year, when is the longest?

Just as summer has its solstice, so does winter — and for those in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s happening right now (while we down in Australia sweat it out). For Aussies, the winter solstice hits in June between 21-23. It’s the shortest day and longest night of the year, a moment to lean into stillness and reflect before the slow return of the light.

One of the great joys in life is sipping on a cocktail in the open air while feeling the summer breeze waft through your hair. I don’t know what you’ve got planned for the spring, but I think I’ll exclusively be outdoor dining. Dining al fresco feels inherently European and, for those of us remaining Australia-bound this season, we can almost imagine we’ve been transported to a beachside Greek Taverna or Italian deli with some of these breezy dining options.

Whether you’re looking for a rooftop bar, or a seaside fine dining escape – below we bring you a list of the best outdoor dining experiences across Australia for you to visit this summer.

New South Wales

If the days at Glory are all about sun-soaked coffees and long lunches by the sea, the nights offer something entirely different. From October 31, the much-loved café extends into the evening with Glory Nights – a coastal dining ritual that runs Thursday through Sunday until 9pm. Think share plates designed for passing around the table, crisp wines pulled straight from the ice bucket, and an atmosphere that leans into the golden hour and stretches well beyond it.

When the sun dips below the horizon, it’s less about rushing home and more about settling in. The music softens, conversations linger, and the shoreline becomes the backdrop to an easy, unhurried evening. If there’s ever a time to visit, it’s as the day folds into night – when the food, the view and the company come together in one slow, salt-kissed moment.

Sophie Turner is officially starring in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s ‘Tomb Raider’ series https://www.russh.com/phoebe-waller-bridge-tomb-raider-amazon/ Wed, 03 Sep 2025 22:45:09 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=176882 Archaeology enthusiasts rejoice!

The post Sophie Turner is officially starring in Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s ‘Tomb Raider’ series appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
It’s official! Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s long-awaited Tomb Raider television adaptation is finally fearing up to shoot, with Sophie Turner locked in as the star.

After nearly a year of speculation, the British actor and Game of Thrones alum has officially accepted the iconic role of Lara Croft, which has previously been brought to life by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.

“I am thrilled beyond measure, to be playing Lara Croft,” Turner said of the role. “She’s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many – and I am giving everything I’ve got. They’re massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can’t wait for you all to see what we have cooking.”

Rumblings of a Tomb Raider remake have been circling since circa 2022, with the only thing certain that Waller-Bridge—who is adored by all for her black comedy hits Fleabag, Crashing and Killing Eve—would be on board to write and executive produce. The project comes as part of the star’s renewed her deal with retail giant and streamer, Amazon.

Even more exciting, the project is set to be mammoth, with one source revealing to The Hollywood Reporter that it is amongst the largest commitments at Amazon since Lord of the Rings. To put that in dollars and cents, it is estimated that Amazon has spent $250 million on rights.

Below, all the important details.

Who is involved in the Tomb Raider project?

At this stage, Turner is the only actor attached to the project. There have been new names added to the creative side, however.

We already know that Phoebe Waller-Bridge will serve as creator, writer, and executive producer on the series. Joining her is Chad Hodge as executive producer and co-showrunner, as well as Jonathan van Tulleken  as director and executive producer.

“I’m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team,” Waller-Bridge said. “It’s not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving. Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out… Croft is coming…”

When will the Tomb Raider series come out?

With Amazon just now securing their lead actor, we’re a while away from firming up a release date. We do know, however, that filming is slated to begin in January 2026. Our guess is that we’ll (hopefully) be watching it all go down on screen in late 2027.

The best horror movies according to a cinephile https://www.russh.com/best-horror-movies/ Thu, 12 Jun 2025 23:30:55 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=174017 Here's Johnny!

The post The best horror movies according to a cinephile appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
As a cinephile, we embrace all movie genres with open arms. Drama, Comedy, Action, and yes, even Horror— a genre that often polarises but never fails to leave an impression. Dare I say, I love it.

There’s something undeniably thrilling about the macabre – the heart-pounding suspense, the spine-chilling scares, and the strange satisfaction of yelling at characters, “Don’t open that door!” or “Why would you go back into the house?!” Horror movies are more than just jump scares and gore; they’re a masterclass in tension, visual storytelling, and sometimes even dark humour. From the claustrophobic terror of The Shining–that is a top four movie on my Letterboxd, to the mind-bending twists of Get Out and the supernatural elegance of Suspiria, horror spans an impressive range of themes and styles.

It’s a genre that challenges us to confront our fears, often reflecting societal anxieties or personal nightmares in ways that other genres rarely do. Often misunderstood as a playground for cheap thrills or gratuitous gore, horror is, in truth, a celebration of cinema’s visual and emotional potential. It’s a genre that wields cinematography and art direction as tools to craft its unique language of fear and fascination.

For those who shy away from the blood-soaked chaos of slashers, there’s the subtle psychological unease of films like The Babadook or Hereditary, where the scares linger long after the credits… If you’re in the mood for a nostalgic thrill, classics like Halloween and A Nightmare on Elm Street deliver the perfect mix of camp and terror.

Below, I have rounded up the best horror movies that excel in both artistry and thrills works that prove horror’s rightful place as one of cinema’s most compelling and creatively fertile genres. Having watched them all myself, I can confidently say: they deliver.

The Conjuring

Based on true events of the infamous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Conjuring commits to the utter sincerity of the genre. I personally find horror movies can go down hill pretty quickly all with the lack of sincerity and quality of script. This is exactly where this film thrives, the investment in each character is meticulous. We’ve seen a haunted house story before, but no one can capture one quite like the The Conjuring.

Talk to Me

A modern take on the idea of an Ouija board. Talk To Me has got to be one of the scariest paranormal horror films, one that reminds you that the genre can just be pure horror sometimes. It’s creepy, confrontational and unexpected with jump scares. The kind of horror that will linger with you for a very long time.

Midsommar

An emotionally distressing film that takes the horror genre to new heights. The director Ari Aster might be one of the reigning kings in the genre, but this would have to be one of his best films. Blending psychological horror and folk aesthetic inspired from the Swedish celebration, the midsommar festival, turning it into a beautifully unsettling experience.

The Shining

Stanley Kubrick pushes horror into the realm of psychological torment, with The Shining unraveling isolation and madness through Jack Nicholson’s performance. Not only terrifying but the film is completely transfixing, the cinematography and tension created is brilliant, a film that is continuously referenced, even an inspiration for Gucci’s 2023 Exquisite campaign.

Smile

Taking something as simple as a smile expression and weaponising it, crafting relentless tension that gnaws at your nerves–brilliant. This is generally terrifying, purely off the jump scares.

Scream

A cult slasher classic. It’s got everything you ever want in a horror film; razor-sharp humour, self-aware characters, and terrifying moments.

Hereditary

Another Ari Aster film, so you know it’s good. Definitely, his most terrifying and creepiest film yet. This film plays with tension so well through cinematography and lighting, and of course, Toni Collette being incredibly sadistic in it. It depicts trauma, lonliness, rejection and familial issues like you have never seen.

It

A remake of the classic made in 1990, based off Stephen Kings novel. A king novel will never fail to make a good horror, especially when there is a clown and children involved.

The Babadook

This movie and Talk to Me is proof, that Australia makes some of the scariest horror films. Digging into the horrors of grief and motherhood, creating an unforgettable monster that’s as symbolic as it is terrifying.

Halloween

Another cult slasher classic. Halloween introduces Michael Myers as a chilling embodiment of pure evil, a serial killer that particularly has it out for a small town in Illinois.

Get Out

Comedian turned Director Joran Peele has surprised us all and enamoured us with his incredible films that specialise in horror. Get Out, his first movie, blends biting social commentary with psychological terror. The acting is phenomenal and if you’re a fan of Stanley Kubrick, you will love this film.

Silence of the Lambs

Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster electrify Silence of the Lambs, a chilling classic masterpiece that fuses crime thriller with horror.

The Witch

The Witch depicts the paranoia of 17th-century New England, immersing you in dread with its meticulous period detail and slow-burning tension.

Nosferatu

Robert Egger, the creator of The Witch, has produced his latest and longest project, Nosferatu. A remake of the classic story of Nosferatu, this vampire movie is going down as not only one of the best horror movies, but one of the best to come out in 2025.

The Substance

This movie fuses body horror with biting societal critique, delivering a visceral and haunting reflection of modern anxieties. Quite gory, and quite comedic, it’s a fun and exacerbated portrayal of self-perception and beauty norms.

Bones and All

This movie walks the fine line of belonging in the horror movies category, but due to the amount of gore and cannibalism I think it can rest in this genre. Being a Luca Guadagnino film, you know it is not going to disappoint. Taylor Russell and Timothee Chalamet have incredible chemistry and portray one of their best performances of their careers.

Longlegs

Longlegs twists psychological tension into a gripping narrative about a serial killer, solidifying itself as one of modern horror’s most inventive works. It’s also Nicholas Cage like you have never seen him…

American Psycho

A movie that slashes through capitalism and vanity, with Patrick Bateman’s blood-soaked descent chilling in its brutal honesty. With a new remake on the rise, it will be interesting to see if it captures the same chilling script, in the book.

The Blair Witch Project

Made in the 90’s, this movie revolutionises found-footage horror, capturing raw fear with its stripped-down realism and unsettling ambiguity. There’s something so terrifying about a home video.

Train to Busan

There’s something about this emotionally driven Zombie film that —despite its gory premise— hits different. Yeon Sang-ho sets his Zombie film in cramped quarters, on a train with people from all walks of life making his commentary on social and political awareness a fascinating infusion to this well-explored subgenre.

The post ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, starring The Weeknd, Barry Keoghan, and Jenna Ortega, has a release date appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
If you told us The Weeknd would be starring in a new movie with Barry Keoghan and Jenna Ortega, we would probably say you’re lying, because we all know a Tedros, Olive Quick and Wednesday Adams cross over would blow our minds, probably for the amount of laws they would break for being the absolute freakiest movie.

But believe it, because The Weeknd’s feature-film debut, Hurry Up Tomorrow, has officially found a home with Lionsgate, and is set to hit cinemas sooner than you think. In fact, two-thirds of the A-list cast took to Coachella weekend two to promote the work, and shared the official release date in the process. Intrigued? Us too. Below, everything we know about Hurry Up Tomorrow.

A post shared by Hurry Up Tomorrow (@hurryuptomorrowmovie)

When will Hurry Up Tomorrow be released?

The film finally has a confirmed premiere date: 16 May, 2025. There’s no word yet whether it will hit cinemas in Australia, but we’re certainly hoping so.

Watch the trailer for Hurry Up Tomorrow

After what feels like an age of waiting, the first trailer has been released for the film. Watch it here:

What is Hurry Up Tomorrow about?

While details of the plot are still under wraps, we know that the film is billed as a psychological thriller, and is an extension of The Weeknd’s third album by the same name. As the trailer indicates, The Weeknd plays a musician suffering with insomnia, who is pulled into an odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.

According to Adam Fogelson, chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, “Abel is a visionary whose art cannot be confined by any single medium. With Hurry Up Tomorrow, in partnership with [director Trey Edward Shults], his musical universe expands onto the big screen with a psychological thriller that will usher in a new cinematic experience for fans. We are thrilled to be bringing it to audiences worldwide.”

Who’s involved in Hurry Up Tomorrow?

It’s a pretty star-studded cast so far. Along with the Weeknd and Jenna Ortega, the film will also star Barry Keoghan, who’s starred in the likes of  The Banshees of Inisherin (which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor) and, more recently, Saltburn.

Behind the scenes, the film was directed by Waves‘ Trey Edwards Shults, and co-written by Reza Fahim, who also co-created The Idol. In addition to music from The Weeknd’s upcoming album, the film will be scored by the singer, as well as Fahim, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss of Oneohtrix Point Never. They also scored the Safdie brothers’ stress-inducing Uncut Gems.

Brown mascara is the latest TikTok trend, and these are the products you should have in your kit https://www.russh.com/best-brown-mascaras/ Tue, 25 Mar 2025 04:03:59 +0000 https://www.russh.com/?p=174419 Black Mascara is out, brown mascara is in.

The post Brown mascara is the latest TikTok trend, and these are the products you should have in your kit appeared first on RUSSH.

]]>
There’s no denying it, brown is the new black when it comes to beauty. Now, unsurprisingly mascara is the next beauty item to go brunette. If you need any more convincing, pay a visit to TikTok, where the #brownmascara hashtag has already racked up over 188 million views (and counting).

Much like our growing love for brown eyeliner, the appeal of a brown mascara lies in its ability to give you a more subtle, refined look compared to the boldness of classic black mascara. It also errs on the side of sophistication — a little more demure, if you will. Brown mascara is particularly flattering for people with lighter features and blue eyes, as the warm tones contrast beautifully against paler skin and make lighter eyes pop. On the other hand, for those with darker colouring, brown mascara provides a natural effect, perfect for a subtle everyday style.

As with most beauty trends, there are different ways to dabble in the brown mascara movement. For those with lighter lashes, Charlotte Tilbury’s Dream Pop mascara is a great choice — it gives just the right amount of contrast thanks to a softer brown shade that still enhances your lashes without overpowering your features. On the other end of the spectrum, if you prefer something a bit more dramatic, Dior Beauty’s Overcurl mascara offers a deep brown shade that’s almost black, giving you that rich, bold look but with a warmer undertone. And for those with green eyes, TikTok has spoken—burgundy mascara is the way to go. YSL’s Lash Clash mascara, with its deep burgundy hue, is perfect for making green eyes stand out in the most flattering way.

Whichever approach you’re going for, check out these options below for the lashes of your dreams!

1. YSL BEAUTY Lash Clash Mascara in Brown

Not only does this serve up volume and length, but it lasts for up to 24 hours. The shade is a true brown with just a hint of warmth, making it great for green and hazel eyes.

2. SEPHORA Size Up Mascara

sephora mascara

Because of the tapered brush, Sephora’s Size Up Mascara is – as the name suggests – excellent for pushing the lashes up, and creating a lifted curl. The shade is more of a deep chocolate brown, so it works if you want a dramatic lash, but just a little softer than true black. It’s also long-wearing and waterproof.

3. BENEFIT COSMETICS They’re Real Tinted Eyelash Primer

While technically a primer, this mascara brush is unmatched when it comes to creating brown-skimming length (the secret is the plastic comb wand that separates and pulls every lash). The pigment is soft and the finish natural — perfect for no makeup makeup.

4. TOO FACED Better Than Sex Mascara in Chocolate

If you think brown mascara isn’t conducive to thick, full, fluffy, ‘are-they-real’ type lashes, you haven’t tried Better Than Sex in Chocolate. The formula has all the hallmarks of the cult-classic original (plush brush, buildable consistency for mega volume) but in a creamy brown shade. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a smudgy brown eye look.

5. GLOSSIER Lash Slick in Brown

Now, this is exciting. As a huge fan of Glossier’s Lash Slick in Black, I know I’m going to be into the brown shade. The formula is very smooth and gives my eyelashes a lift that feels weightless and extends the hair without making them look clumpy. A must try IMO.

6. MECCA MAX Lash Whip Tubing Mascara in Brown

If you cry easily (we see you, Cancerians), or just hate the idea of smudgy, flaky mascara, get familiar with a tubing formula. Unlike traditional mascara, tubing versions create little cylinders around your lash, meaning there’s zero change of fallout, running and smearing. They’re always been hard to find in brown, but this wallet-friendly Mecca Max one ticks every box. It removes easily with warm water and subtle pressure, too.

7. ELLIS FAAS Mascara in Milk Chocolate

This is waxy and soft, so it’s nice for building up a fluffy, fanned look. The brown hue is quite light and the pigment isn’t overly dense, so it’s a nice choice for those with light features and/or blonde lashes.

8. DIOR BEAUTY Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara in Brown

A cult classic for good reason, Diorshow Iconic Overcurl pushes the lashes up, while the fast-drying formula locks them in place for Bambi-esque curl. The wear is impressive, and its enriched jojoba, cotton and cornflower water to soften and nourish each lash.

9. CHARLOTTE TILBURY Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes! Mascara in Dream Pop

This one’s got the TikTok girlies talking! The original shade ‘Super Black’ is a top-tier award-winning mascara that has gained traction due to its clump-free volume-making and lengthening qualities. Dream Pop is a burgundy shade that looks incredible against blue eyes.

10. MAYBELLINE Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara in Brown

Another TikTok viral number, this drugstore buy from Maybelline promises crazy-good length. The flexible brush grabs every single lash, while the lightweight formula is enriched with bamboo for a weightless finish. You can apply countless counts and it won’t clump, either.

11. CLINIQUE High Impact High-Fi Full Volume Mascara

clinique mascara

Say goodbye to clumpy, uneven lashes, with this hard-working formula by the beauty gurus at Clinique. The brush, which tapers from wider at the base to smaller at the tip, is perfectly placed to colour those hard-to-reach corner lashes, for volume and pigment across your entire lash line Yes please.

The summer is rolling on in, which means one thing: holiday time! If you haven’t decided where to go yet, how about consulting with your astrological spirit guide? We’ve worked it all out for you so you can choose the perfect holiday destination for your star sign.

This could be extremely helpful if you’re planning to travel with a friend whose sign may or may not align with your sign’s travelling style. You might think that your Gemini bestie would like to join you on a tranquil journey to Serifos, Greece. But you could be wrong.

So ahead of your next trip, make sure you get it right. Check-in with the stars to make sure where you’re going is the best holiday for your horoscope. Bon voyage!

Aries: the wayfarer

Where to go: Barcelona, Spain

Energetic Aries need some variety on their trips as they get easily excited but also need some tranquillity. A visit to somewhere with lots of variety should do the trick! A combination of beach and city in a place like Barcelona should entertain the fiery Aries. This way they can feel like they’re getting the best of both worlds.

Taurus: the planner

Where to go: Maldives, South Asia

The Taurus is relatively rigid in their holiday planning and finds it difficult to get out of their routine for long enough to even go on said holiday. That said, when they do manage to get away, this earth sign would benefit from a little rest and relaxation in the form of kicking back on a beach. For a Taurus, where better to recuperate than the white sand and crystal-clear water of the Maldives?

Gemini: the socialite

Where to go: Aruba, Southern Caribbean Sea

Geminis are the social signs. They need to go somewhere they can accumulate plenty of stories and impeccable Instagram shots to show everyone back home. Take them to Aruba, where the picturesque beach living will have them swapping life stories with strangers in no time, while also filling up their camera roll.

Cancer: the dreamer

Where to go: Vienna, Austria

The introverted and dreamy cancer craves somewhere creative to recharge on their holiday. They’ll love the rich history, tranquil gardens, beautiufl museums, and hearty food of Vienna.

Leos are a little extra, relishing over-the-top vibe for their holiday of choice. Their love for beauty calls for regal and exquisite destinations so where better to channel that main character energy than in the hustle and bustle of Marrakech?

Virgo: the soloist

Where to go: Tokyo, Japan

Virgos are notorious perfectionists and prefer order and organisation when it comes to travelling. Few cities are better suited to a holiday planned meticulously beforehand than Tokyo. With boundless shopping destinations, food spots, captivating architecture and, of course, natural beauty, there’s nowhere better for a solo holiday adventure.

Libra: the aesthete

Where to go: Miami, Florida

Librans, we know you like to party, so let your hair down with a visit to Miami. By day, indulge your cardinal air sign heart with a tranquil beachside cabana. Then, break out your dancing shoes at night as you hop from restaurant, to bar, to club.

Scorpio: the sensationalist

Where to go: Corsica, France

Scorpians get inspired by being in the presence of something greater than themselves. Standing in vast environments that overwhelm the senses has a grounding effect on this sign. So, the truly exquisite surrounds of Corsica, nestled in the South of France, is sure to awaken their senses. Get in now — we predict this island will soon takeover Sardinia as a must-visit locale.

Sagittarius: the explorer

Where to go: Chiang Mai, Thailand

Sagittarius are well-worn travellers. This is what gets them excited about life. They are independent, adventurous and inspired. They love the great outdoors, good food and extraordinary adventures. They want to be wowed, which is why Chiang Mai, Thailand would be the perfect destination for these industrious signs.

Capricorn: the achiever

Where to go: The Inca Trail, Peru

Capricorns work hard, so why should their holidays be any exception? Put your mental and physical strength to the test by hiking the exquisite Inca Trail from Cusco to Machu Picchu, where you’ll be treated to  Incan ruins, cloud forests, and alpine tundra. Bonus points: there’s no reception, forcing these overachievers to relinquish the possibility of splitting focus to their day jobs (which they likely will do anyway).

Aquarius: the intellectual

Where to go: Uzbekistán, Central Asia

This is a sign of questioning and innovation. They love their holidays to be mentally stimulating so they can learn something new on their journey. They’re intrigued by the lives of others, spirituality and inventiveness so would love to go somewhere with a rich culture and history where they can educate themselves about new places and spaces. Uzbekistán is an under-the-radar destination sure to get the cogs turning.

Pisces: the floater

Where to go: Edinburgh, Scotland

Pisceans are deep sensitive dreamy beings. They value gorgeous landscapes and nature. The lush greenery of Edinburgh, Scotland,  would be just the ticket for this water sign to daydream the day away.
